OUR HISTORY:
St. Christopher's grew out of the need to meet the growing Catholic community in the late 1960's.  A mandate was handed down in 1968 by Bishop Fulton Sheen that a new church would be formed from four surrounding parishes.  Gorund was broken on the current site in October 1969 and the first mass was celebrated in 1971.

St. Christopher's presently collaborates with members of St. Vincent's in Churchville, St. Mary's of Scottsville and St. Columba's/ St. Patrick's of Caledonia, as part of the Five Saints West Pastorial Planning Group for the Diocese of Rochester.  We are moving into the future in a spirit of faith.
Why St. Christopher's?

When people were asked at mass what they liked best about St. Christopher's, the overwhelming response was " the people".  Parishioners  said that the people are warm, welcoming and very friendly.  The environment is one of acceptance, peacefulness, safety, tolerance and comfort.  All in all, people felt that St. Christophers was like home.  It feels like a family.

Many others commented on the multitude of additional activities that are available.  The wonderful Faith Formation and Youth Ministry program are two noted examples.  It is said that we have a supportive environment to bring children into.  The community support also continues in programs like Hope And Healing.  It was also said that the parish is very accepting of individuals with special needs.  One individual said that parishioners are genuine in their faith.   This can be seen in the work of our many committees.

St. Christopher's parishioners value their music groups that are involved at all masses.

Parishoners responded that Father Bob and Deacon John are true assets.  While some said that the sermons were a bit long (sorry Father...),  they felt that all were meaningful and gave insight into issues of todays world.  One parishioner also noted that our sense of humor was an important part of what makes St. Christophers so special.  Undoubtedly that has something to do with Fr. Bob and Deacon John.

We are proud of the results of the informal survey and hope that you come to see for yourself "Why St. Christopher's?"
